Sun vs. Fever

Monday, May 20, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
Sun to lead halftime/fulltime (-135, BetMGM)

By Michael Arinze

Opposing teams aren’t even attempting to disguise their game plan when facing the Indiana Fever, as the main objective is to do everything to frustrate Caitlin Clark.

Clark is being guarded the entire length of the court to wear her down as much as possible.

While some are debating whether the hype around Clark is warranted, it’s worth noting that she is the Fever’s leading scorer with 17 points per game.

It's noteworthy that Kelsey Mitchell is the only other player on the Indiana team who manages to maintain a double-digit average, scoring 10.0 points per game. This stark contrast in scoring ability highlights the team's heavy reliance on Clark.

Thus, the reality is this Fever team still needs plenty of work despite having back-to-back No. 1 picks in Aliyah Boston and Clark.

With so much attention placed on Fever’s games, opponents will continue to give them their A-game.

As a result, Indiana is a team I’m looking to fade in every way possible, and backing the Sun to lead at halftime and the end of the game is an option well worth considering.

Pick: Sun to lead halftime/full-time (-135)

Storm vs. Liberty

Monday, May 20, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
Courtney Vandersloot under 10.5 points (DraftKings)

By Jim Turvey

The New York Liberty play host to a hobbled Seattle Storm on a rare WNBA back-to-back on Monday night at the Barclays Center. The spread is set at Liberty -11 and has already taken money to that side. There's the definitive potential for a blowout, and as a result, I am looking towards a veteran's under.

Courtney Vandersloot has seen her usage, field goal attempts, scoring and most importantly minutes, all dip in her age-35 season, which makes sense given where she and her team are at in their career/season.

There's no reason to overburden their veteran point guard early in what is going to be a cramped schedule in which the Liberty are confident they will be in the postseason.

Vandersloot is averaging just 8.3 points this season, but I don't have her projected for much more than that, so adding in the potential for a blowout, as well as a tough defensive matchup in Jewell Loyd, and the under 10.5 points is a best bet. I also lean to the under on her assists at 7.5 at plus money.

I would play under 10.5 points to -145, or under 9.5 points at plus money.

Pick: Courtney Vandersloot under 10.5 points
