Zlatan Ibrahimovic taken a leading role in Milan’s contract negotiations with teenage talent Francesco Camarda, who has attracted the attention of Manchester City.

The 16-year-old striker, who has been with the Rossoneri for the last nine years, emerged as one of the most exciting youngsters in Italy this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists across 37 matches for the Primavera squad.

Milan had hoped to lock Camarda down to his first professional contract upon his 16th birthday back in March, but the club haven’t been able to reach an agreement with the teenager amidst interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich, causing concern for fans.

Ibrahimovic leads Camarda talks

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, negotiations between Camarda’s entourage and Milan changed when RedBird advisor Ibrahimovic got involved, believing the agent commissions requested by Giuseppe Riso to be excessive.

The former Swedish striker has also reviewed the details of the first draft agreement, convinced that the teenager needs to follow a different economic path.

Despite the difficulties, Ibrahimovic and Milan are still confident that Camarda will pen a new deal ahead of his contract’s expiration on June 30.
