Browns insider reveals how Cleveland feels about former Vols WR Cedric Tillman after a quiet rookie season

Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Cedric Tillman didn't put up huge numbers as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns last season. 

Tillman, a third round selection by the Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft, caught 21 passes for 224 yards while playing in 14 games. Modest, albeit unremarkable, production for the former Vol. 

Entering the 2024 season, Tillman is expected to be the fourth or fifth wide receiver on the Browns' depth chart, behind Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Jerry Jeudy. 

Despite where he stands on the depth chart, Tillman is still a player that the Browns are excited about according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. 

Cabot addressed how Cleveland feels about Tillman earlier this month in response to a question from a fan about the Browns' wide receiver room. 

"The Browns still have high expectations for their two recent third-round picks, David Bell and Tillman," noted Cabot.

"Because the Browns will be playing more three- and four-receiver sets, all of their receivers should get their chances," added Cabot. "The Browns liked what they saw of Tillman as a rookie, and actually wish they could’ve gotten him on the field sooner. Despite his 6-3, 215-pound size, Tillman can play in the slot. He’ll need to get in his playbook even more this season, but I think he can take that big step in Year 2 that teams always look for."

Tillman is getting a chance in the NFL after experiencing a breakout season at Tennessee in 2021 (64 receptions for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns).
