Joey Gase rips his bumper cover off, throws it at Dawson Cram after wreck
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

After being turned around by Dawson Cram and sent into the wall at Richmond, Joey Gase had enough and decided to retaliate. Since Cram wrecked his car, Gase made sure to give him his bumper as a thank you, literally. This is NASCAR, folks!

Dawson Cram has a history in the Xfinity Series. He happens to be at the center of a lot of these incidents. He pushed a little too hard and sent Joey Gase around and into the outside wall.

Add this to the list of great reactions to being wrecked. Forget the helmet throw, throw the entire bumper. Gase owns his own team, and that makes it a little more personal when he gets wrecked like this.

Joey Gase is a driver-owner. He works hard to get to the track every week and he felt like Cram wronged him. He might not be wrong, either. NASCAR likely won’t appreciate him running at moving cars, but I’m not sure if there will be any penalty to him. Perhaps I’m wrong?

“I think him just not having his head screwed on right,” Gase said about Cram after leaving the care center. “You know I gave the kid his first opportunity ever in Xfinity and I know [team owner] Johnny Davis is in the business of wrecking race cars and we’re definitely not we’re a small team and racing hard for the lucky dog and apparently he just didn’t know how to lift. Maybe his throttle stuck, I don’t know.”

This Richmond race has been tough. Drivers are battling for every position and Gase lost his cool after being wrecked.

Joey Gase loses his cool at Richmond

Joey Gase was trying to fight for a top-20 today. He was fighting for a lucky dog position when he was wrecked. To have it taken like that is going to be a tough pill to swallow for him and his team. This season he is splitting the driving duties in that car. Frankie Muniz is making limited starts in it throughout the year.

When that wreck happened, it also split the tire strategy. Drivers didn’t know whether to take tire now or wait until later in the final stage. So, it’s going to be an interesting finish. Drivers might find themselves in a tough situation soon if the race goes green for a long run.

While these drivers try and figure things out on the track, Joey Gase is going to pack up and head home. These small teams are just looking for a chance to run all the laps and finish strong. However, today is going to end early for the 35 team.
