The last time the Baltimore Orioles won eight consecutive games, Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro were on the roster. With a 9-5 win against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, the Orioles matched that streak for the first time in 17 years.
The Angels struck first Sunday with a two-run homer in the third inning, but Baltimore responded with four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth. Los Angeles scored three runs late the game to cut into a seven-run deficit, but couldn't take back the lead.
Seven different Orioles recorded a hit Sunday and five players recorded at least one RBI. Third baseman Ramón Urías led the way with two singles and three RBI.

The Orioles won eight straight early in the 2005 season, but struggled in the latter half of the year and finished 74-88.
This season, Baltimore started the year 6-14 and were 10 games under .500 as recently as mid-June. The team's winning streak has the Orioles now at 43-44 and just 2.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the last wild card spot in the American League.
